How many wines will i taste?

All masterclasses and tastings will show a minimum of five different wines.

do i need to provide my own glassware?

For groups of up to 24 guests, Toby will provide glassware at no extra cost. Should the group size exceed this number, there will be an additional rental fee which will be quoted at the point of booking.

what is the minimum fee for a private wine-only tasting and why is it there?

Wine-only tastings are designed for a minimum of 6 guests. This is due to the nature of tasting glass sizes and the size of the bottles. Of course you can book a more intimate tasting as a couple but please be aware there will be a minimum event cost of 6 multiples of the per person price advertised. (You will however, have lots of wine spare to enjoy after the masterclass!)

Where do these events take place?

Toby will come to your house and you can enjoy the event in the comfort of your own home. If you’ve already booked a venue and would like to host it there, that’s also no problem. For corporate events, some clients like to host in their offices or, again at a licensed venue.

How long does the event last?

For the ‘Taste of England’/ ‘Styles of England’/ ‘The Pairings’, please allow for around 2 hours to make the most of your experience. Toby will arrive approximately 1 hour before the event is due to take place to ensure everything is in place for you and your guests to have a stress-free event!

Can I buy the wines tasted after the event?

Yes, however this availability is only for certain producers and depends on stock levels available.

Do I need an alcohol licence?

No, Toby has a full personal alcohol licence. If you would like your event to be held at a non-licensed premises such as your home, Toby will liaise with the local council prior to the event to make sure everything is in compliance.

Can I book a private chef experience without wines?

Yes of course! Toby offers private chef services for celebration meals or dinner parties to a maximum of 12. He can also cater for canapé/drinks parties for up to 100 guests.

Are there any wine flights, masterclasses or tastings available with Non-English wines?

Unfortunately not. Due to the nature of the business, all the wines shown are English.

How do I book an event?

Please fill out a booking enquiry form on the website, specifying your preferred tasting, masterclass or event. Toby will then be in contact to discuss the particulars and availability for your preferred date. Alternatively, feel free to send an email to ‘info@tobyrider.co.uk’ for private clients or ‘trade@tobyrider.co.uk’ for trade and corporate enquiries.

How is payment made? Is there a deposit required?

All payments are requested to be made via BACS transfer. Toby will provide an invoice along with your event confirmation. Payment for all services is required to be made in full, no later than 7 days prior to the event. Cancellations made at least 72 hours before the event will be entitled to a full refund. Refunds for cancellations made after 72 hours prior will be a Toby’s discretion. All cancellations must be made by email to be considered received.

Can my food allergy be catered for?

In most circumstances, most of the main allergens can be catered for but this cannot be guaranteed in all instances. Please contact Toby to discuss specific allergens and he will advise on the best course of action.
